We went to Riu Palace Punta Cana last week and we had an amazing time. This is an excellent resort, grounds are very well maintained and their staff to guest ratio is highly respectable. They have ample food, drink, dessert choices. One thing I would say is their restaurants aren't anything special but the buffet more than makes up for it. The staff they have is wonderful, they really go above and beyond to make sure you have an excellent experience. Please extend our thanks to Julio Sosa, Antonia, Kiara and their respective teams. For perspective guests, please be sure to tip the gardeners and room and bathroom cleaning staff as they have some of the toughest jobs on the resort and they do it with a smile on their face. We cant wait to come back!

Sad that I could not give it a zero rating! Our room keys did not work for the duration of our trip and the staff kept lying to us about when it’ll work. The hotel was discriminatory and catered mostly to the Europeans... so if you’re black, find another hotel to go to! This ain’t it for you. One of the hotel workers literally yelled at my friend while she was inquiring about the keys. Our bathroom toilet kept leaking and the room has a moldy smell. The shower was extremely dirty and unacceptable. We were unable to do any of the activities I was told we would do over the phone prior to the trip. The food was bland, would have been better to have authentic Dominican food.

I haven't done an all inclusive in years but I did enjoy the experience at Riu Palace Punta Cana. I did not take advantage of breakfast but from what I heard from friends that is not the best meal of the day. My five days there I can't say that I had a bad meal at all. The staff was professional and courteous with the exception of the manager/host at the steakhouse on 12/6 who was very rude to my friend when she tried to ask him a question. He was totally out of line how he handled things. But outside of that I enjoyed my stay.

Spent 5 days on this resort. Very blessed to have the opportunity to take such vacations. This resort was very poor with service, on many occasions, bartenders refused to provide us with drinks!! What's the point of being all-inclusive. Also after eating dinner at the Steakhouse it got everyone in our group sick. Also, note there is no food after 930pm which makes late nights on the resort difficult. The beach is incredible and overall a beautiful place in this world!

Qué decepción. Pensé que iba a encontrar un servicio parecido al que recibí en México, pero todo muy alejado de la realidad. Desde el check-in tuve mi primer problema, cuando la persona encargada del proceso quería copiar mi número de tarjeta para una supuesta verificación, siendo que yo pagué en línea con anterioridad mi reserva, y además esto viola cualquier certificación internacional de PCC data.La habitación es pésima, cuando te bañas todo se inunda, el inodoro manchado y oxidado, en la bañera había un hueco en el techo que luego taparon con una pieza plástica, me la entregaron y no había colchas, ni cremas, ni gel de baño, solo disponen lo que está en el minibar, no hay nada para picar. La atención de los camareros podría mejorar mucho también, aceptan sobornos para agendar en los restaurantes especializados, y si llegas a tiempo habiendo mesas vacías te dicen que no hay cupo. Además de esto, te tratan con demasiada confianza, no hay un respeto y distancia para con uno, como creo que debería ser. En otros temas, la coctelería sencillamente es lo peor: ni la pila colada, ni el mojito, ni ningún otro cóctel exótico tiene el sabor que debería.

My trip was just okay. The food other than breakfast was not that good. It was very bland. The drinks were good. The resort is very close to the ocean. All 3 pools on the resort are right next to each other instead of spread out on the property. I had problems with my sink not draining properly. It never got fixed. I had to call the front desk for numerous things and often had to call multiple times before I got what I needed. Ex: there was no remote for the TV. I called and requested one and after an hour of waiting, I left the room to do other things. Upon my return, there was a remote in the room but it wasn't the right one for the TV. Had to call again to get the correct remote. Had to request clean towels and washcloths because they would remove the dirty ones but not replace them. Overall, I won't be back

The grounds and pools are well kept. Maintenance could be improved though in regard to the lodging. Most outlets in the rooms didn't work. The first room we had leaked water on the bathroom floor from the corner of the shower when you had water on. It was on the bottom floor and there were ants on the floor which I guess can't be helped if it is the bottom floor butit was unpleasant added in with the other things.After discussing this with management we moved to a different room which was perfect on the 3rd floor. I really liked that room although some outlets still didn't work. So just some general building maintenance issues. One other big thing was that the ceiling in the La Altagracia restaurant bathroom was leaking water for some reason and it dripped on people coming in the door.The food was pretty good but it seems like the breakfast buffet had the same thing every day which got bland. Krystal was awesome. I had the best salad ever there for dinner one night. The Italian place was good too. Japanese was good. Spanish was good. The dinner buffet at Isabella looked awesome but we didn't get a chance to go.Overall a good experience but not overwhelmingly good. I had a good vacation but probably won't be back.

Es un excelente hotel. Las instalaciones son muy bonitas y las habitaciones cómodas y bien decoradas.La comida buffet es bastante aceptable, sin embargo los restaurantes especializados no tienen comida especial. No los recomendaría. Mejor comes en el salón general. El entretenimiento es hasta las 12 de la noche. A partir de esa hora quitan la música, sin embargo puedes seguir sentado y poner música desde tu celular. En bebidas alcohólicas si tienen un buen trago, pero cuando lo pidas debes especificar con que marca de licor lo deseas porque después te ponen el trago barato.

From the moment we walked in the entrance to the Hotel Riu Palace Punt Cana Resort, we were thoroughly impressed. The interior decor was upscale yet warm and inviting and the personnel we encountered were all very pleasant and accommodating. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. . Room service was horrible.. Asked for wash rags everyday i was there going home and still waiting. Had to constantly ask for towels. Some employees were not friendly at all. Food was nothing to brag about. Nothing seemed fresh but the natural drinks. Surf and turf was a joke. But love Dominican Republic.. And will say resort is beautiful by look.

Yo solo fui a visitar a una gran amiga que estaba hospedada ahi, pero note su gran organizacionSi vienen para Punta Cana, traigan su menudo para los peajes de pago de ida y vuelta, ya que dependiendo por la ruta que se vayan, deben saber que el único peaje que no se paga de ida y vuelta para la zona Este del país, es el de las Américas!

Overall A great trip. The service in the Krystal restaurant take need to be approved upon desperately!! Chaggy at the buffet was the best waiter! We absolutely love him. Should really change up the nightly entertainment. The trivia was the same every time and how many times van you listen to baby shark? Other than A few minor issues, highly recommend!

It's a beautiful place and the service is A+ but we had to be relocated because the hotel we were meant to be was on full capacity even when we reserved a month before. The cocktails and drinks left a lot to be desired, cheap alcohol made me even have a heartburn. The food was good, 7/10, but with how expensive it is you'd expect better quality on everything in general. Overall I'd say its a decent hotel, but far too expensive with what they offer.

This hotel is amazing.The beach is one the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen with palms, lovely sand and warm water. It gets a bit windy in the afternoon, so it'd be cool to have something to wrap around yourself.The room we got was very big, full of light and a very nice view. The bed is also big and comfy. The room and specially the bathroom could be a bit cleaner though.The staff are super friendly. At breakfast and dinner buffet we got the extra attention and kindness from the Sosa, Daniel, Manuel, Esteban (sorry If I misspelled a name) and many other kind staff.The reception is super responsive, whenever we ordered/asked something via the app, we received it in a few hours.The bar drinks are usually strong, so if you'd like a lady like drink you should ask extra so that the bartenders put just a little bit of alcohol in your drink. The non alcoholic drinks are delicious. I'd recommend the coco and pina colada.The food is good. It could have been better but because of delicious fresh fruits i can't complain. I mostly enjoyed the fruits, the avocado salad and delicious local food like fried plantains and Dominican foods. The buffet dinner is recommendable specially because they also have themed evening, like middle eastern evening and there were middle eastern food along the international food. If you have more time and you'd like to get extra attention I'd recommend the restaurants as well. But generally and personally speaking i found the evening buffet better than restaurants because even a picky eater can find something to eat and enjoy. There are also always american foods like fries, hamburger and pizza for lunch and dinner. There's a big tortilla chips machine in the lunch restaurant with a pot of hot cheese and delicious topings like guacamole. There is also anti bacterial gel at the entrance.The vendors on the beach are nice and i would recommend to give the fresh coconuts a try. The aqua park (splash) is worth the try and on the way to it you'll enjoy banana and coconut palms with fruits on them. It's really enjoyable to walk the way. If you don't know how to swim then the blue water tunnel could be dangerous, because when you fall in the pool, it's really deep and i couldn't put my feet on the ground (I'm tall). The other tunnels are safe and fun and the pool afterwards is not deep. The slides are fun too. There are also some pools to chill and relax in or near them. There is a ping pong table and also dart board to enjoy.They also offer the covid test for your departure but you have to register and make an appointment at least three days prior to your flight otherwise you won't have a chance.There are many opportunities to enjoy in groups (like yoga, dancing, unofficial parties, etc) but also many calm and peaceful areas where you can chill and keep yourself away from covid. There's enough room for those who wants to socialize and those who would prefer a quite place to relax far away from covid risk. The staff are always wearing masks. There are anti bacterial hand gel almost everywhere specially at the entrance of restaurants and closed areas.Last but not least you can also enjoy a very good hair cut here at the hotel.

Lugar maravilhoso, porém as instalações são bem antigas por isso alguns ambientes tem cheiro muito forte de mofo (informaram que em 2018 serão reformados todos os quartos). Serviço de quarto é muito ruim, tive que solicitar reposição de bebida diversas vezes e sempre demorou muito para ser atendida, mesma avaliação para serviço de limpeza, deixa muito a desejar. Comida é bem variada e agradável, assim como a cortesia dos atendentes, alguns marcam pela grosseria, mas no geral são simpáticos e atenciosos. Equipe de animação muito fraca, para quem não gosta de bagunça é positivo, no meu caso achei um pouco desanimado. NÃO ir com criança, pouca estrutura para elas, não possui copa para quem vai com bebê. O parque aquático do complexo é muito legal, só acho que deveria ter transporte já que é um pouco distante.

Excelente opção de hotel em Punta Cana, sem crianças e com infraestrutura completa. Piscinas, parque aquático, vários restaurantes temáticos e bares espalhados por todo complexo. A praia na frente do hotel, apesar de não ser muito extensa, tem muitas opções de cadeiras e abrigos de sol. Os quartos são grandes e confortáveis. O diferencial do local está no all inclusive, que não faz a qualidade dos serviços caírem. Tudo funciona perfeitamente, só deixou a desejar em relação à pedidos feitos fora da rotina do hotel, como uma surpresa de aniversário que não foi realizada. uma semana é o tempo suficiente para aproveitar tudo do hotel e fazer os principais passeios em Punta Cana.

O melhor hotel em que já fui na minha vida. Atendimento espetacular,passam garçons até pela praia perguntando o que vc quer para beber. Uma infraestrutura incrível,o lobby é magnífico! Me senti realmente hospedada em um palácio! A praia é linda,todos os dias passam limpando qualquer tipo de sujeira da praia. Eu poderia fazer uma redação falando todas as maravilhas desse hotel! El hotel es muy bonito, la playa hermosa. La comida buena y muy variada. Lo que no me gustó para nada fueron los protocolos (super escasos) en relación al cuidado en pandemia,poca disponibilidad de alcohol en gel, autoservicio en el bufett( todos agarraban los mismos cubiertos, y vi mas de un huésped que no se colocaba el alcohol antes de ingresar a servirse la comida) empleados con tapabocas mal colocados,no daban kit de proteccion personal como me paso una semana antes cuando me hospede en otra cadena hotelera en Bayahibe. Lindo lugar, pero no volveria durante la pandemia, me costo relajarme por esta situación.

Muy bellas instalaciones, buenas actividades de entretenimiento, deben mejorar en la variedad de los alimentos y la asistencia del personal. Nota. Es visitados otros de la cadena Riu y la asistencia de los empleados en los demás hoteles por ejemplo el Palace Bávaro fue especial, por eso indico que deben supervisar y mejorar la asistencia de personal, especialmente el personal que trata con notable diferencia a los huéspedes locales. Me encantan la cadena de hoteles Riu por cómo fui tratada en los que otros que es visitado, pero en este lamentablemente no fue lo mismo, cuando llegue a la habitación el baño estaba sucio, problemas con la llave de la habitación por farta de mantenimiento, tuve que esperar como una hora para entrar a la habitación esperando al técnico, en los restaurantes grandes horas de esperar para traer la comida, en fin deben mejorar.

Organizamos este viaje con mucho entusiasmo hace 6 meses y la desilusión que tenemos es indescriptible. Estoy en este momento alojada en el hotel q en teoría es de 5 estrellas. Yo veo turistas sin barbijos q pasan al lado de los dispensadores de alcohol en gel como si no existiera, casi ni te toman la temperatura para ingresar a los lugares comunes, no hay desinfección de reposeras, mesas, sillas, tarjetas de toallas, entre otros artículos q pasan por las manos de todos los huéspedes. Los lugares cerrados como bares y restaurantes tienen mucho olor a cerrado y humedad. La atención del personal deja mucho q desear. Puedo destacar que la comida es muy buena al igual q los tragos No volvería. No lo recomiendo!

DO NOT COME HERE! We had to come to this hotel last second after Riu screwed up our reservations. When we arrived at Riu Palace Punta Cana they gave us a room that was already occupied and our friends a room that wasn't set up or cleaned. We had to go back to the front desk and ask for different rooms yet again. Our first day we had $400 stolen right out of our hotel room in cash. We told the front desk and not even a manager talked to us about it and we were told nothing could be done. We decided not to get too bent out of shape over money and we'd figure it out. The second day our shower wasn't working and we asked to switch our room because....our shower wasn't working....they told us no. Our third day my boyfriend went out for a walk on the beach at night and was assaulted by 3 men on the beach. The man who was supposed to be patrolling the beach watched it happen and didn't do absolutely anything. My boyfriend had multiple visible injuries on his body including a dislocated shoulder. They called a doctor over and she took his vitals and did nothing else..didn't even put his shoulder back in place. I had to bring him back up to our room to put it in place myself. The manager who at first seemed concerned ended up accusing my boyfriend of lying about the entire situation because he was drunk even though we never mentioned drinking to him and my boyfriend wasn't drunk at all. The manager ALSO stated my boyfriend needed to be "medicated" referencing he was mentally unstable. "Crazy" in other words. We demanded to speak to someone, anyone higher up than the front desk to be reimbursed for the last 7 days of our stay because we no longer felt safe here and the man at the front desk refused to let us talk to anyone and wouldn't even let me finish my sentences. Do not come here, it is not safe and they won't do anything when things go wrong.

Great experience. Beautiful resort with an amazing view, nice beach, pools and service is great; They go out of there way to make sure you have everything you need/want. Will be coming back after the pandemic is over, do to some restrictions specially if you're trying to go outside of the resort area.

Beyond amazing hotel and vacation. Would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a vacation. The staff is always friendly and genuinely happy. Nobody is begging for tips. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and the food was out of the world! You had so many choices for every meal you cannot go hungry! None of us got sick, and there was always plenty of bottles water to go around. The alcohol and coffee on the premises was awesome too! This place was incredible!!! We had no issues with security or concerns for our valuables. The on site free kayaks and sailing (out to the shipwreck 0.5 miles off shore) was awesome. We did not do the water park but heard good things.

After booking a last minute deal on apple vacations, we decided on this place pretty much by price only, It was the cheapest at the time we booked(10 days before) and i don't really know why. This place is freaking great. It's part the RIU complex in the DR that includes 4 other resorts all right next to each other. This one is the oldest I'm guessing but you can't tell; Everything is updated. This particular one is the "better tier" that allows kids. The Rooms, lobby, and bars and restaurants are all located in one big hotel style building as opposed to bungalows that you see at the other resorts even on property, we didn't mind this as you can get most places indoors, like when it rained one night, and the added height(we were on the second floor) made our view actually the ocean. We paid for a junior suite "superior" and our room had a great view and location for only charging like $20 more, I'd recommend. Our room was a little walk from an elevator, and we did take the stairs to the beach pool area everytime.This place is very mellow. Even when it's busy it doesn't feel like it, which is nice in my book. Never really struggled to get a chair at the pool or beach, didn't have issues with the "chair game" you see other places. Check in process was quick and easy, and when checking in the person made sure to tell us that we could go to the other resorts if we wanted and the water park. The food has all been pretty good, but nothing really to exciting. There are 5 speciality restaurants on this property and we had 3 of them opting to not to eat at the Japanese and Spain style restaurants. The other 3 were pretty good , Italian being our favorite. We did go next door and eat at the "Mexican" restaurant and it was good. We ate lunch most days at the steakhouse that's a lunch buffet, but they have a "chicken shack" with burgers and dogs that was nice too. The only thing that I can really ding this place for is the entertainment crew/nightly entertainment not the best but I could care about that really. Pool bar can get rowdy but it's fun. The Room Service Menu is not great, the selection is terrible. They do serve food at the "sports bar" 24/7 and we usually took food to our room after to many mojitos as opposed to ordering in. Booze selection was fine but I only saw Presidente beer. Buffet was nice with just enough changes to not get bored. Beach is wonderful along the whole RIU property. We went to the "Jungle Party" at the "RIU Party" which is a completely separate party area away from the resorts, it was pretty cool but nothing special. Another big gripe I have is the "coffee shop" more like coffee bar in the lobby, it doesn't open until like noon! So if you want coffee in the a.m. you have to go to the buffet. We also had to call twice about getting more water brought to our room. The cleaning staff was fantastic thought, not just the rooms this whole place is spotless. Would I come back? Absolutely. Would it be my first choice on property? Eh I'd probably go try the adults only one.

Hola . Aun estoy en el hotel. Es mi ultima noche. La verdad la mayoría de las cosas estan para recomendar. Sobre todo la gente de animación. Pero hay cosas q la llevan mal. Mal. El spa sobre todo. Tuene un cartel de horario y dice hasta laa 20 hs. Llego 18.45 y me dicen q cuerra a las 19.No has ningun cartel q diga eso.Ademas veo q el sauna esta cerrado. Consulto y me dice que está en mantenimiento. No seria mejor q el mantenimiento se haga en horario de cierre ??? Es poco creible.En las fotos se ve claramente el horario de cierre.Como veo en comentarios q no son del todo buenos, la respuesta siempre es" por que no viniste a hablarlo personalmente antes de escribir tu reseña "....Bueno, comento q antes de escribirla, fui a recepcion y comenté todo esto... La respuesta fue : Bueno , vamos a verlo..Eso fue todo... La verdad , parece mas un chiste q una respuesta. Asi q aqui les dejo mi comentario con cero respuesta ante la queja. Saludos... El hotel es sumamente elegante, fino y hermoso, es como dice su nombre, parece un palacio, cuenta con diversas piscinas súper hermosas, con área para niños, otras con bar abierto dentro de las mismas. El hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana, tiene varios restaurantes, me gustó muchísimo el que está cerca de la playa, la comida es variada y de excelente sabor. Las habitaciones son súper hermosas y acogedoras. El hotel cuenta según la agenda, con un pool party de 8:30 pm a 11 pm.

El lugar es maravilloso, la gente atenta y amable. Tuve la suerte de cumplir años en mi estancia en el hotel y se encargaron de realizar una bonita celebración. Alguien también se encargó de llevarse 50 euros que tenía en la mesilla de la habitación, suerte que el resto del dinero estaba en la caja fuerte. Detalles que un hotel de esta categoría no deben permitirse, además de que tras dar parte en recepción el señor Miguel Ángel Peralta lo único que nos dio a entender es que estábamos mintiendo puesto que era nuestra palabra contra las de las empleadas que supuestamente fueron las únicas personas que entraron en la habitación, sin mostrar ni las más mínimas disculpas y dándonos la posibilidad que dieramos parte a la policía.

Awesome resort!!! We've been to many all inclusives. This place was great. All the staff was outstanding. Fun and hard working. Restaurants were really good. Ranking them Id say French, Italian, Steakhouse, Buffet, Spanish, and Id stay away frok the Japanese. For lunch you have 2 buffets. One by the beach and the regular buffet. Nightly entertainment is good. They have a live band and a nightly theatre show. Pools are great. Theres a pool with a swim up bar, a big family pool, and a water volleyball pool. The beach was a few steps from the pool. A little rough some days but still enjoyable. Played tons of beach bolleyball. Loved the size of the place. Easily walked everywhere. Not so big you need a trolley to go from your room to a restaurant like some places. The tour offered by AmStar people to snorkel with sharks and stuff was awful. Avoid it. But the reaort and staff were Amazing. Would definitely go back.

Estuvimos 2 semanas en el hotel las instalaciones son excelentes,buen servicio de bares ,los shows nos encantaron, la pool partyes una locura fue muy divertida los chicos muy amables todos,solo tubimos una sola cosa que nos daño en las vacaciones tan perfectas que teníamos...Había escuchando mucho sobre el hotel cosas buenas y malas pero en el tiempo que estuvimos hay solo fue desagradeble por unas de las chicas de animación (versace) esta chica solo busca dinero me pidio que me hiciera unas trenzas con ella pero yo no quise y se enfado y después se nos acerco y nos ofrecio drogas me gustaria que tomen medidas en el hotel ante esta situación ya que no todos los turistas que viajan quieren salir del complejo y quieren consumir drogas, yo fui con mi marido a relajarme y desconectar y ella varias veces nos invito a salir fuera del complejo y nos hizo estar incómodos en el complejo ya que se enfadó con nosotros por que no quisimos nada de lo que ella nos ofrecía no todos buscamos drogas y sexo solofuimos a pasar una buenas vacaciones.

The staff were tentative, clean and tidy up your room twice a day, choices at the buffet matched 80% of the time but there are so many choices to keep randomizing so it didn't bother us. The facility and pools we're clean, plenty of entertainment even if you don't go out of the resort. JC Diroche was very good to us! We will be back!

Booked a room here at the beginning of the week for $870. I booked a previous one at full price for $1000+. I make food stamp level wages but I’m in my friend’s wedding so I asked them to cancel the expensive one and keep the cheap reservation but of course they canceled the cheap one. Prices went up again today. I called and asked them to please reinstate my $870 reservation but they said the best they could do was offer me today’s rate. Really not impressed with this customer service.

Beautiful resort! Amazing food and everything.It’s really a palace as it’s so huge!Food is very good and everything is so nice.I find that the beaches along this side of punta cana is quite wavey at all time so it’s not too safe for small kids.. but sands are so nice and soft and smooth.swimming pool is nice and warm... spent most of the days in there.Rooms have been renovated but still it’s more traditional style not like those chic or modern see thru bathroom with glass etc.Overall it’s a great stay and I do really recommend this place! Thanks!!

Lamentablemente fue un dinero mal gastado porque En primer lugar hay que pagar para consumir en la discoteca, no tienen rincón de diabéticos , no hay variedad de comidas y los restaurantes son muy pequeños por último la animación no es muy divertida que digamos ello tiene que interactuar más con la gente y además si alguien cumpleaños hay que darle a chef un incentivo para que te haga un bizcocho, en cambio cuando he ido a otros nocobran nada .Lo único que fue bueno fue la fiesta en la piscina.

Riu palace asi como su nombre lo dice es un palacio hecho realidad el lugar cuenta con excelente atenciones un personal sumamente capacitado en su area.La comida: cuenta con varios restaurantes mas uno que es el buffete la comida es rica y bastante variedad.El personal: no me faltaba nada siempre estaban atentos a lo que necesitaba y siempre con buena presencia y una sonrisa.Lo recomiendo es un excelente lugar no hay perdidas por ningun lado.

I stayed in this hotel this year. Had a all inclusive booking. Well the place looks great. Is very big and a has a lot of variety. But beware. Although you may have an all inclusive you must change a lot of money if you want to have a good service from the staff. They will practically ignore you if you do not tip them. Otherwise the place was great.

El masaje en uno de los gazebo de la playa es muy relajante. Todo muy limpio, organizado. La decoración también me encantó!

Servicio a la habitación, mini bar en la habitación, diferentes restaurantes a la carta y buena atención son algunos de las cosas buenas que ofrece este hotel. Pero sin lugar a dudas lo mejor es la playa de arena palo rosa y agua celeste turquesa que está frente al hotel con muchas actividades de relajación o de aventura por realizar. Recomendado! 💯

No me gusto mucho el servicio, como que no le buscan la solución a los errores que cometen. Y además llovió y aún asi solo tenían comida en un restarante que habia que mojarse para llegar, ni siquiera una persona con sombrilla, no volveré,además obligan a consumir unos productos solo en dólares,contradictorio a lo establecido en la Constitución Dominicana y la Ley Monetaria y Financiera.

The food was fairly good and the ocean view is just spectacular. None of us got sick or anything. We did the outback adventure and factory tours, both were fun and safe. We visited the Riu Palace over the New Years vacation. The hotel itself is great, the staff very friendly. The location is great. They have a large pool area and enough beach and pool equipment. I would love to visit again minus the all inclusive.The food was was a problem. If you visit the buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner it was the same menu everyday. Needless to say we were sick of it by the fourth day. We tried to make reservations at the restaurants, but they do not take reservations and we were a party of 7 so they made it even more difficult to seat us. We had no choice but go to the buffet. They restaurant would tell us to come back after the first seating at that point it was difficult for them to seat us together because the tables would empty at different times. We got frustrated and left. There are no restaurants walking distance from the hotel.The rooms are big though need to be updated. Not that we stayed in the room long enough.Overall it was a great stay I would recommend for a small party or large if they like eating the same food everyday on vacation. The hotel is clean and accommodating.We called room service to bring breakfast early at about 4:15 am because we had a early flight, they did not show up and no one picked up the phone. The front desk was. No help either. We left without breakfast.

I love this resort, it’s totally worth the amount, suns bright, palm tree wind feels relaxing and breezing. But there was one thing I would adjust is the bedding, it’s kinda uncomfortable hard, it takes a long time for people to sleep. But there is a lot other things that are good like the staff are nice they treat you like family, the entertainment is amazing and terrific! It’s hot, and even at night it’s hot, the food tastes good! Especially the 2 buffets, I love how you can take food out of the buffet beside the pool and bar! It makes your day instead of sitting down wasting time I definitely recommend this resort!

Overall, it's a great resort. Awesome staff and clean rooms.About the food, apart the disgusting American fat food at the buffet, the quality in general is good, it's possible to find healthy food.The only thing I'd say is they charged me for a superior room, but in fact, after checking with other customers, we received a standard room ... and of course they refused to refund me the difference I paid more.Other than that, it's the perfect place for families, happy couples, and young couples.

My family really enjoyed this resort.On the Plus side is the price was great, the bars are many and the pours are good.The staff was friendly and always tried to help.The buffets always seemed to be open the the quality was typical resort buffet food. On the minus side:The beach was crowded but if you get there early you can get a chair and it was spring break.The specialty restaurants were average and the entertainment was just OK.The front desk did struggle with using English but that is OK with me because it is their country not ours.I would go back to this place again.

Old approach to family vacations. By the way, I came to the property based on reviews, DO NOT GET CONFUSED, all RIO are 3 star hotels, very old and in process to be refurbished; but honestly, there're other better options than RIO Punta Cana. (The whole complex). Rooms very small, showers are not greatly clean, and more important, food is very, very average. El Hotel forma parte de 5 Hoteles del grupo RIU en la zona de Punta Cana y es el segundo por categoría ya que van de mayor a menor categoría desde el Palace Bávaro hacia la izquierda. El Hotel cumple las expectativas de lo que significa el concepto todo incluido en Punta Cana. La limpieza es sobresaliente y la comida es buena y variada. El entorno es de lo mejor de la zona ya que está rodeado de muchas palmeras que dan una sombra muy agradable.Por otro lado no son generosos con ciertas frutas, concretamente el mango ya que se agota enseguida y no lo reponen pese a pedírselo en varias ocasiones. Por otro lado son demasiado permisivos con la gente ebria. Por último, pedimos nos cambiaran nuestra habitación por una con vistas a la playa, ya que era evidente que había algunas libres, pero parece que pese a estar vacías no es tan sencillo hacer el cambio para felicidad del cliente.

Este hermoso hotel es el más grande en cuanto a dimensiones de la cadena hotelera Riu en Punta Cana. La playa es una de las mejores del lugar. Puedes utilizar las instalaciones y espacios comunes de los otros hoteles de la cadena que se encuentran todos muy cerca. No es el más lujoso y moderno, pero sus instalaciones son de primer nivel!

We went to this hotel at the beginning of September.We loved this hotel. Couldn't get a better location, right on the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Our safe went wrong a few times while we were there but it wasn't a problem as we rang reception and they sent someone right up to sort it out.Alexis looked after us on the beach, runningaround getting drinks for everyone.The room was always spotless and thought the turn down service in the evening was a nice touch.The air conditioning was very good which was a good job as it was really hot and humid.The food was very good and always hot.The entertainment was mostly different dance acts but were excellent.The hotel grounds were always kept clean and tidy,I was impressed to see the gardeners cutting the hedges with a machete and not shears but it was so neat,I'll have to get them to do my garden.The foyer of the hotel is very opulent with some nice artwork and how they keep the porcelain floors so clean and shiny with people in and out all the time.We would definitely go back and recommend it to others, we go to a lot of Riu hotels but this is definitely the best one we have stayed in.P.s we recommend the pool parties, we have never been to one before but we really enjoyed them even if we were older than most.

The people and workers were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us.Rijo, our waiter from the buffet dining, was fantastic! Your drink would never run empty and dirty plates were cleared immediately.It's amazing to see people who are waiters and servers, actually wait and serve you, with a smile!The rooms were very spacious and recently remodeled. The layout of the place was really nice.Several pools and activities happening around them.The only downfall was the sea weed on the beach.They would clean it up, but it would accumulate within another day or 2.I definitely recommend going to the Riu Palace Punta Cana! We're already talking about returning and we just got back!

Nice hotel, amazing beach! Food was OK. Buffet is great! Don't go to the Stake House! We waited forever to get dinner served. Half of the lobster was looking bad! Gray color! Stake was well done and too hard!Service is OK too. Cockroaches in the room, though!Shows are fun, except for the White party if you have kids. They announced that everyone is invited and there was no other show that night. We walked to that White Party with 2 kids and they didn't let us in. No kids allowed 😠 Our 4 year old asked for a balloon, but the guy wouldn't let us get in even just to get it. Very annoying.It's definitely not a 5 star hotel! But the hotel grounds looks very nice! I like modern style! It's also nice that there's 3 more Riu hotels close by and a Water park. So you won't get bored!If you're looking for a summer weather in January, February, Dominican Republic is great for that! We stayed at similar hotel in Cancun, Mexico (Riu Peninsula) and food, service and housekeeping was way better, but the beach and weather is better at DR.

Our room was flooded due to an over flowing toilet and they were able to change our room immediately on the same floor with the same level of accommodations. The variety of food choices and amount of restaurants available in the all inclusive resort was wonderful. The experience was awesome, my family and I had a great vacation.

They have lots of activities and themed parties every night.They even have a mini, not so mini waterpark.Loved it!! Wish i can come back for like a week next time, so that i can really enjoy their amenities.I really recommend it!!!!

Super relaxing, great food in all the restaurants, staff is very courteous, responsive and friendly. We brought our 8 year old daughter and she had a great time as well. Beach was fairly clean. It is the incoming shoreline so you will have seaweed but there are plenty of excursions you can take to cleaner beaches if you are into that for about $150 a person for a full day excursion (including meals and drinks). We worked with AmStar for our shuttle from the airport to the hotel and guide service. Well worth it. Great people all around who, when at the airport we tipped $5 and they skirted us around the luggage scanning, directly onto our hotel shuttle and walked us through all the hotel amenities and excursions the next day (which was very helpful). Bring plenty of $1 and $5 Bill's for tips. We brought $100 in $1's and $5's and that worked out pretty well. Try to be courteous and realize, most of the workers rely on tips to get by. As an American, at least attempt to know a little Spanish out of politeness for the culture as well. The staff is mostly bilingual but do appreciate people trying to communicate in the native language and are generally very patient and helpful teaching correct phrasing and dialect. This was quite a hit with our 8 year old as well. The drinking water was never an issue either. Every day, they restocked our room with 3 half gallon bottles of sealed water (which we used for making coffee, filling our water bottles, and brushing our teeth) . The hotel itself uses a reverse osmosis and UV filter for all the drinking water and ice machines as well so it should never really be an issue. Again, our 8 year old drank water at every meal in the restaurants and was fine. Not sure what else to say. It was a very nice, relaxing time.

2nd Riu I've stayed at. 3 star resort. Amazing espresso. Standard offerings. Been to one, been to them all. Prefer other resorts that offer better flexibility for food and quality of food. I want a meal made for me not a buffet when I'm paying for all inclusive. Room service was terrible confirmed by multiple people from our group (26)

We were dropped off at this hotel for a few hours because our terrible sunwing flight was extremely delayed. Very beautiful resort, staff are friendly as well (maybe they felt bad for us). I cant comment on much else as we only stayed for 4 hours. We were given a room, the rooms are nice and clean. We also had dinner at the lobster/steak house. Our group that we met on the bus over to the resort had a great time at dinner, the food was wonderful and service was great. We also had the chance to see a small part of one show, the dancers were terrific. Glad we had a few hours to experience this resort.

Very beautiful place with delicious food. Every restaurant had a great atmosphere and really nice people. As soon as we got in the door to check in there was a server walking around giving us welcoming drinks. The beach is relaxing and the ocean water seemed warmer than the pool. The swim up bar was awesome and the servers were pretty accommodating. I don't know how many times I ordered rounds of 20+ shots but I always eventually got them. There was a short period where they attempted to cut off our group but in the end we were still able to continue getting everything we asked for. They didn't have ginger ale so the server mixed Sprite and a little bit of a dark soda and it had basically the same taste. The entertainment people that hang out dancing around the pool and teach water aerobics were all very nice and fun. They were really good at getting people to join them and feel comfortable dancing. One of the people even brought us a little bucket of ice with a case of beer to fill it with. At lunch time one of our friends went to the buffet inside and asked for every single pizza they had and brought them all out to the pool for all of us to eat outside. Also, I'm not sure if it is a regular occurrence but on one of the days we had a beer drinking contest. For the contest someone brought over a little table and two chairs and would call out two people from the pool to sit at the table and see who could drink the beer faster. The neighboring resort had a giant bubble machine over the pool for people to play in, it looked like a lot of fun.There was a few incidents that happened that were very shady and unsettling though. One of our friends hotel room was robbed, their money was stolen right out of their safe so they had to go file a police report. My brother-in-law had his and his wife's passports moved from one spot of their room to another. When I was in my room with the "do not disturb" sign on my door somebody started knocking and naturally I responded saying not to come in. I assume they knocked just to check and may have entered anyways had they not known anyone was inside. Also, I should have listened to the tips about not going on the beach after dark. A red t-shirt was trying to sell us weed. The person was so dark you couldn't see anything but their shirt and hear "weed - grass - what do you need" and when we got closer we could see him reaching his arm out and holding a brown paper bag... It was definitely weird. That is when we turned around and started heading back. I couldn't help but notice this adorable mini palm tree so I went up to it and got a picture standing next to it. Moments later my foot felt like it was on fire and was instantly swelling up. I looked down and there were some type of bugs (fire ants?) crawling up my leg! I ran as fast as possible to the nearest pool to try to soothe the pain but it was burning uncontrollably. I recommend avoid going on the grass!One day while I was on the beach trying to take a picture in front of the ocean some guy came up to me and took my camera out of my hand and sat an iguana on my head and started taking pictures. It was pretty cool but then he told me to give him $20! He was very consistent and kept saying "$10 a person". I told him I left my money in the hotel because I'm on the beach and don't need it seeing how it's an all-inclusive resort... He continued asking but I just walked away. The iguanas nails were all ripped out probably for safety for us tourists but when I seen that I definitely wasn't giving him any money! Some of the people we were on vacation with said the same thing happened to them with a monkey and it had no teeth! Someone got bit by it and had a small circle on her hand from it's gums. First of all if they're going to ask for money from people to take pictures they should mention it BEFORE taking them! Instead of harassing people after the fact. Secondly the animals they are exploiting are being harmed for them to hustle people for money! That is not okay! Don't give any of them any money!

This was our first family vacation to an all inclusive. The kids had fun (11,15,18) at the pool, the beach, and the dancing at night. The biggest issue is the panhandlers. They do not take NO for an answer. I felt unsafe on the beach more than once. The food wasn't amazing either. The menus at the restaurants are very limited! They are doing some remodeling in the near future. The place is beautiful. I just wish we would have felt safer!

Very nice hotel with good amenities and very friendly staff. We were staying there for two weeks and really enjoyed our vacation there. Almost perfect - service, food, cleanless, bars, pools not much to dislike! However only 4 stars due to a small swimming pools for such a capacity hotel - really crowded with warm water not cold (yes, not refreshing in the heat), lots of sea wead on the beach making it unusable and not all from five restaurants up to reputation. Still really nice holiday and wouldn'tind going back there again.

Great for family time, water, sand and in special winter warm weather. The food was good, service was great and the people very honest and friendly. My wife lost the room & safe keys, shortly thereafter someone brought it to reception... all good, but we were scared for a little while. The rooms and overall place could use some updating, we were here years ago. The place looks great architecturally and the gardens, yards and the pools are one of the best around. Lots of green... well maintained, nice to take pictures, walk around, gorgeous... Long huge, probably more than a dozen settings with couches, seats and space for groups to hang around. Bars everywhere, all inclusive drinks and beverage as well as food round the clock. The room service people: hard working people for very little money but very happy to have a job. Left a couple of bucks daily, returned to the room to be impressed with the towel figures they came up with... Look at the pictures, those are some of the many. Outside plenty of tables and chairs to eat and hang out .. Overall, greatness on budget, I was there before, now and will go again. Liviu

Es lo mejor que he visitado en años. desde la recepción , maleteros, camareros, bartender, las comidas. Todo realmente espectacular. ¡cuantos Riu a través del mundo para planear una visita a otro país que tenga estos magníficos resorts. Por cierto estuve allí desde 01 de octubre al 08. VOLVERÍAENCANTADA!!!

Muy buena atención, magnífico trato excelente, lo único que no está muy bueno es la recreación dentro del hotel, la playa es muy buena, las piscinas, del hotel muy buenas tambiénmuy bonitas y muy limpia, en fin yo pasé unas vacaciones excelentes, en esté hotel, yo se los recomiendo

Las instalaciones y el servicio es excelente. Muy buena comida! Excepto que robaron en mi habitación y todo lo que no esta guardado en la caja fuerte el hotel no se responsabiliza. Elegi siempre riu por sus hoteles y la seguridad, pero esta vez no se cumplio con algo tan basico que es la seguridad en las habitaciones.

Muy lindo, excelente servicio de parte del personal de trabajo. Muy atentos. No le pongo 5 estrellas ya que los cócteles no estaban buenos en el todo incluido. Tener en consideración que la discoteca que hay en el complejo hay que pagar las copas

hola el entretenimiento es decifiente en la noche, quitan la musica de la terraza para presentar show muy malo!! no se oye ni un merengue en 7 dias!
