“As with most Ritz Carlton's, they are outdated and overpriced. This particular hotel was at the standard of a basic 3-star hotel. The lobby was underwhelming, with a sad attempt of a modern vibe. There wasn't an enticing or signature scent as you walked in the lobby, no "vibe" of any kind, but rather the sound of unruly children playing pool nearby, in what appeared to be a game room off the lobby.
From exiting the elevator to our floor to walking into our room, I was once again reminded of how basic this hotel is. We had an ocean front deluxe room. The view of the ocean from the door was beautiful, and that's where it stopped. The furniture in the room was old and antiquated, as was decor. The bathroom was a decent size, yet the bath products could've been picked up at any Dollar General. The shower had mold throughout the tile. The bed was also hard and uncomfortable, as were the flat pillows.
Another major flaw was the shared balcony, which was only separated by privacy screens. At one point, I thought the neighbors were actually on our balcony, from the closeness of their voices, lack of privacy, and poor design of the mesh separating the balconies. Along with lack of privacy, as you stood on the balcony to soak in the ocean front view and direct pool view, you are hit with the obnoxious sound of the overcrowded pool filled with children. It looked like a water park, from the number of children in and around the pool.
Needless to say, checkout was the best part of our experience, and that's because we were leaving. If you're looking for a hotel of a certain standard, I'd recommend the W, the Hilton, or the Conrad.”
